Dr. Edward Ray was appointed as the 14th president of Oregon State University on June 5, 2003.
Oregon Leadership Summit ChannelEd Ray came to Oregon State University from Ohio State University where he served as executive vice president and provost since 1998. He was a member of the economics faculty at Ohio State for more than 30 years, serving as department chair from 1976 to 1992. Ed Ray's research interests include the history of protectionism in the U.S., the role of financial reform in economic development, and foreign direct investment in the U.S. and abroad. He has been published in leading economic journals and has authored or co-authored several books on economics topics. OSU is one of only two U.S. universities designated a land grant, sea grant, space grant and sun grant institution. Its more than 19,000 students come from all 50 states and more than 80 countries. OSU programs touch every county within Oregon, and its faculty teach and conduct research on issues of national and global importance.
