Sandra McDonough has served as President and CEO, of the Portland Business Alliance, Greater Portland's Chamber of Commerce since August 1, 2004.

Before joining the Alliance, Ms. McDonough worked in the energy industry for two decades, including as a Vice President, External Affairs, for National Energy & Gas Transmission Inc. and Vice President, communications and external affairs, for PG&E Gas Transmission; both of these companies were operating units of San Francisco-based PG&E Corporation. Earlier, Ms. McDonough worked for PacifiCorp, holding positions in Oregon and Washington, D.C., and she was a reporter for 10 years, with reporting stints at The Oregonian and the Seattle Times.

Ms. McDonough has about 30 years of civic and community leadership and service in the Portland area. She is currently serving on the boards of Associated Oregon Industries, Portland Schools Foundation, Travel Portland, Leaders Roundtable, Pioneer Courthouse Square, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the University of Oregon Business School Advisory Committee. She serves on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives, is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum/Oregon, and volunteers at her son's school.

A Portland native, McDonough holds bachelor's degrees in journalism and German from the University of Oregon. She has one son, Richard, and lives in Southwest Portland.

With almost 1400 members, the Portland Business Alliance is Greater Portland's Chamber of Commerce. Its mission is to ensure economic prosperity in the Portland region by providing strong leadership, partnership, and programs that encourage business growth and vitality.
